Jesus and The Law of Attraction

In the sacred text of the bible, the Gospel of Matthew 7:7-8 states: “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.” In Mark 11:24, Jesus states: “Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.”
In these verses, we see the roots of the Law of Attraction. And Jesus knew how the principles worked, even if he didn’t have the scientific knowledge we have today.
One must remember that Christianity did not exist in Jesus’s time, and it certainly didn’t exist in the form as we know it today. Instead he laid out a set of principles regarding the manifestation of one’s reality and desires. He had access to special knowledge that he claimed we could have as well, if we opened ourselves to it. The Law of Attraction was around long before Jesus or any other avatars or master teachers knew of its power. Jesus knew the Law of Attraction as God. And he knew it as a loving God, not the wrathful God of the Old Testament.
What can we glean from these powerful verses about the Law of Attraction?
1.  Have a clear vision of what you desire to manifest. When you pray, meditate, visualize, or concentrate, you are deliberately releasing energy into the Universe toward God, your Higher Power, the Infinite Intelligence, Source, etc. The emotion, or conviction, in your words/images sends out a vibration, or a frequency, like a radio signal that gets picked up. If in harmony with the Universe, those desires manifest.  Believing equals receiving. Whatever you desire, know (believe) that you have it. The Universe always provides.
2.  Have faith, not doubt. Faith, being the essence of things not seen, is a force of positive energy that releases whenever we pray, meditate, or visualize. Doubt is rooted in fear and will negate any of your efforts to manifest your desires. Having faith in God’s power/Universe/Source will bring about particular results as Jesus emphasized. Jesus never told people that his faith had healed or restored them, but rather that their own faith had made them whole. The power of their own minds was key. You become a magnet of energy once you establish an inner conviction that the law works.
3.  Take control. Jesus speaks in the imperative in these verses. He says, “Ask,” “Seek,” “Knock,” “Believe.”  In other words, you ask, you seek, you knock, you believe. You are in control of co-creating your reality with your Higher Source. These are not passive words; they are words of action. Jesus is telling us that when we act, God/Universe acts in accordance with our desires when we are aligned in harmony for the highest good.
Jesus served as a spiritual beacon. He lived in tune with his purpose for which he had been incarnated. He may not have known the Law of Attraction as the Law of Attraction, but he knew how it worked and he knew it as the power of God. Having faith and believing are acts of love and positive energy. He knew that having a clear vision coupled with faith and magnetized by prayer, thought, meditation, and/or visualization attracted results, and he came to teach us that we, too, have access to the same power that he did.

Got Purpose?

If we are to manifest what we want into our lives, we need to have purpose, and we need to be specific in what we want. Knowing our purpose propels us forward; it is what drives us. When we know our purpose, when we hold it in the forefront of our minds and close in our hearts, we will do what is necessary to prioritize. First things first; second things never. Here’s to making your dreams a reality.

Doing "It"

Today is the day to do the “it” you have always talked about but have never taken the steps to do.  How many times have you said things like, “I’ll do it when I have more time” or “I’ll take that trip after I get out of debt” or “I’ll join the gym after I lose some weight,” only to find yourself never having done any of it?  Instead your find yourself with less time, less money, and more weight gain than ever before, pushing your goals and dreams further and further away.  Today is the day to stop procrastinating and to start doing.  Today is the day to change your thinking so you can change your life.

If you always think about attracting and living a better life, but remain inactive in doing anything about it, you’re not going to get anywhere at all.  It’s time to get off of the couch of inertia.  It’s time to make changes.  Many people don’t get started because they don’t always know where to start.  It starts by affirming to yourself, “I am starting today.  I am starting NOW.  Today is the day.”  Let this become a mantra as you begin.  Your self-talk is an important step because as you affirm positive phrases to yourself, your brain actually begins to create neural pathways for your new thoughts and affirmations to travel.  Old habits begin to die away as new ones are formed.  Research shows that it takes about 21 days for a new habit to ingrain itself into our psyche and into our lives.  Just as a musician must rehearse or an athlete must train, daily repetition of positive thinking and affirmations becomes second nature and sets the universal law of attraction into motion, especially when you put positive emotion behind your words and action.

The next thing to do is to make a list of the things you are going to accomplish.  You can write them down in bullet form, or if you are the creative sort, you can create a vision board with photos, drawings, sketches, and word art.  Keep your list or vision board in a place where you will see it every single day to remind you of your goals and dreams.  You can create a smaller list to carry in your purse or wallet.  The trick is to keep it readily available as a constant reminder.  Read through your list every morning when you awake, every evening before bed, and during any part of the day when you are between tasks.  Daily visualization of your goals and dreams as you affirm positively with your self-talk helps to build momentum in your life.  Your thoughts are pure energy; this energy flows where your attention goes.  Make your goals and dreams your dominant thoughts throughout the day.  See that goal or dream in your mind’s eye as already existing in your life.

The third thing to do is to express your gratitude.  Any wisdom tradition or spiritual teacher will tell you that giving gratitude for all that you have will increase more of those things in your life. This allows you to align with Source as partners in a dynamic relationship of creation.  As you envision your goals and dreams, give thanks to Source for manifesting them into your life.

It sounds too simple to be true, but by incorporating positive affirmations, visualization, and gratitude into your daily life, your life will begin to change, and you will be on your way to a better, happier you.  Now is the time.  Do “it” today.
